East Lancashire Womens Refuge Association (ELWRA) empowers women and children to live free from domestic violence & abuse. Since our refuge provision opened in 1976, we have saved over 5000 women and children. Our team of skilled staff and volunteers are running the biggest refuge in Lancashire, purpose built with unique security features. Our track record of unrivalled expertise ensures we can support women to see through and overcome their challenges, providing pathways to a successful independence. We have specialist Child-Centred Services because children of all ages deserve a high level of support to overcome the trauma of domestic abuse.

Ways to support us
Make a regular donation
Supporting ELWRA with a regular gift is the best way you can help us achieve long-term goals. It also helps us keep administration costs to a minimum.
Make a one off donation
Giving a single one-off gift could make a real difference to someone's life today. With your support we can keep supporting the women and children staying in the refuge now.
Events
Organising an event is a great way to raise money for ELWRA and spread the word about our work. You can organise all kinds of events from concerts and dinners to cake stalls, quizzes and garden parties. The key to a successful fundraising event is planning it well. If you are interested and would like some guidance, just get in touch.
You can also raise money for ELWRA by taking part in a sponsored event. People get sponsored to do all sorts of things from shaving their head to racing in the Great North Run.

Leave a gift in your will
No one likes to think about making a will and people have all sorts of reasons for not making one. Yet having an up-to-date will is probably one of the most important things you can do to ensure your wishes will be carried out exactly as you wanted. And it's the only way to protect the rights of your children and loved ones. Making or changing a will doesn't have to be hard work or expensive. You also can make a contribution to a future that keeps ELWRA alive for women and children Legacy gifts are important as they will help us save women and children as long as there is a need.
